Is witch!Sam growing more and more on anyone else? Like studying books and doing spells for even just things around the bunker, like mundane things, like helping with laundry… or making sure the stray puppy he brought home out of the rain doesn’t bother Dean’s allergies or shed.

I just want Sam surrounded by books and ingredients, idly making things float around him so he can multi-reference easier as he works, maybe with light twining between his fingers like tread.

And Rowena is amazed, because Sam is unlike any witch she’s ever seen, his power is different, both natural, but changed by the demon blood and grace that infiltrated his body, making him able to do what shouldn’t even be possible and she’s never heard of. But he’s getting more powerful the more he uses it, so that she kindly and gently sets out to be his teacher and help him learn to control she views as a beautiful thing to be marveled.

Nobody knows anything about him.

He was a rare and unknown kind of witch. Legend has it that he is the strongest healer that they have ever come across. Then there are those who have seen him kill with the snap of his fingers. After all, he wouldn’t be the first Winchester to use their powers for evil.

Those who have supposedly encountered him don’t ever speak of him. They say that they can feel his intense hazel eyes watching their every move. It wasn’t stalking, however- the intense gaze was warm, and protective. His presence was a warm, comforting blanket for the small town.

There was always hushed whispering of Sam Winchester sprinkled throughout the town. No matter where you go, you can’t escape it.

In a tiny cabin hidden in the woods is where he presides. He watches over the people, keeping them safe from any sort of danger. Even from people like him.

For many years to come, he will continue to protect the strange people of this tiny little town. Nobody truly expects him to come out of his cabin- but there is still that anticipation laced throughout the town. The anticipation of possibly finding the Sam Winchesters walking among them- while they don’t know what he looks like, they know his presence.

The only thing that the townspeople can do is wait.

OH, DO I? (Spoiler: I do.) These are not gonna read like a story with continuity but like an explosion of plot bunnies that are all near and dear to my charred and empty heart and frolic freely in the garden of my mind:

Okay but: tiny Sam using magic unaware for the first time when he’s a kid. He has a “bad dream” about Dean and John getting in trouble with a giant black dog-thing and Dean almost getting hurt, but something protects Dean and keeps the creature from causing him harm. Sam doesn’t know about hunting at all, so he just assumes the whole thing was a weird dream.

Consider: psychic!witch!Sam. Twice the ability to protect and get in trouble! Twice the reason for his family to look at him like he’s a particular dangerous piece of moldy bread.

It’s very, very hard to imagine John being okay with Sam practicing any kind of witchcraft/magic, so how about: AU where Sam grows up with Bobby and sometimes Rufus. He devours literally all the books. Even though he doesn’t really go hunting with John and Dean, he does everything he can to make sure they’re protected.

Obligatory SamMax canon AU: Max teaches Sam witchcraft and also flirting with guys. *wink wink nudge nudge know what I mean?*

Sam as promising witch being taken in and mentored by Rowena, who is vocally critical of his way too nice way of practicing the craft but secretly respects the ever-living stuffing out of his skills and thinks it’s a shame he’s not willing to kill people, because he’d be a force to be reckoned with in her circles.

“Sam, Darling, won’t you join my mega-coven?”

Patrick the Poker Witch taking Sam in and teaching him his trade. Yum, Immortal Poker Witch!Sam. Patrick was awesome. Seriously. I loved him. I totally headcanon he and Sam stay in contact and that’s why Sam’s so good with all those spells. For sure.

Hermit witch!Sam as hunter resource who gives no shits about what the hunting community thinks about him but is actually highly respected (after probably about a decade of Sam being ostracized) and sought out.

Witch!Sam’s magical animal shelter don’t say it ain’t so. Animals everywhere. Piles of them. Oodles and bunches. Fur everywhere. Happy Sam.
