Jurassic Park: Reeves’s Pheasant Edition

dinosaurs didn’t all go extinct. some of them survived and evolved into that group of jerks who hog the whole sidewalk and won’t adjust formation for other pedestrians

“I would eat his heart in the marketplace” is legit the most savage line I have ever heard, I’d like to personally thank Shakespeare for putting into words that feeling of rage and protectiveness women get when some fuckboy hurts another woman

Okay first off, I will always reblog this post, but secondly, I went to Shakespeare in the Park tonight to see this and all the women cheered *so loudly* when Beatrice said this line, and the guy in front of me looked around all shocked and a little scared and said “… oh wow” and it was ICONIQUE

Fall TV: 5 Characters That Deserve Better This Season

Sam Winchester, Supernatural
This is the second time that Supernatural’s Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) has been included in this somewhat annual article (though I think about making it a weekly series for him).  Season 13 found Sam Winchester desperately searching for his mother, deal with Lucifer being sprung from the Apocalypse-verse and dying horribly (again) only to lose Dean when his body was hijacked by the evil archangel Michael.  Now he will be tasked with saving his brother from a twisted and massively powerful angel while doing to his day job of saving the world.

Sadly, I don’t have much confidence that the writers will give Sam a decent, full-fledged arc that encompasses both the grief of losing his brother to what is literally his worst nightmare, the fight to save him, and Sam forming any kind of bond with his newly-rescued mother, especially since the writers have already expressed the “challenges” of writing the show without Dean.  After several seasons in which it seems that Supernatural was zombie-staggering through the motions, I’m running out of hope that they can conjure up a compelling and scarily emotional arc for our Sammy. Thank god for crossroads demons, amirite?  Supernatural premieres on October 11 on The CW.

#ugh god i miss this so much#i remember how any expression of anger from sam was taken to be Deeply Ominous#and how s5 treated this as a monumental character failing that lucifer could exploit and that he needed to overcome#at the end of this episode he is so distressed… by himself#so consumed by doubt and guilt and the potential loss of control over his actions#that he can’t trust himself to hunt#i do think sam is in a much worse place now that he doesn’t allow himself anger at all#now that he’s all about cool practicality and insistence on a future that not only seems unfeasible but one entirely of his brother’s making#he’s sandpapered all the parts of him that are yearning and vulnerable and… SAM#that’s tragic#far more than this frequently affecting portrayal of someone hurting and trying to fight addiction with a fair amount of success (via @why-this-kolaveri-machi)

I think all writers need a friend who will encourage their desire to write absolute garbage. Not necessarily something that is badly written, but like, stupid self indulgent bullshit. “Cringey” aus or crossover fanfics. Aus or crossover fics of your own ocs.

Writing that stuff is fun and is great practice, but sometimes I feel like “wow, this is hardly productive, why am I even writing this, who else would ever want to read this?” The answer is your friend who encourages your trash writing, that’s who. Write it for yourself and for them.
