this is the only food critic I’ll accept at my restaurant.

@beastlysoul

Feeding your animals (safe) but new-to-them foods is botha great source of enrichment for the and endless hilarity for you.  I reccomend green beans because they’re unwieldly for them to eat so its an involved process.

I wrote this up really quickly so it’s not proofread or anything. But that pic of Sam sitting at Jack’s bedside from 14.08 really motivated me to write something for once, so… here you go?

“So, what can we do?”

“Watch over him. Stay by his side. As he dies.”

The last three days have been like something out of a nightmare, Sam thinks. It’d started the second Dean had called him, and Sam could barely hear him over the panicked yells of “Jack’s sick, Sam! He’s coughing up blood and he’s passed out and – I don’t know what to do. I need you here. Jack needs you here!”

Sam barely remembers getting back home at all, just running down the bunker stairs two at a time with his heart in his throat to Jack’s room. He’d been in a daze, seeing Jack’s prone form, his white shirt still stained with droplets of blood. Cas arrived a few moments later, and Sam had reluctantly followed Dean out to let Cas try and do what he could.

But it hadn’t been enough. None of it had. Angelic healing, the hospital, the Archangel grace from Gabriel, Rowena… nothing. There was no quick fix it, no miraculous solution.

Jack was dying.

honestly i have saved a lot of hassle by specifically requesting to be treated by female medical professionals whenever possible

to clarify

  • there are plenty of good (and mediocre, and lousy) medical professionals of any gender.
  • institutional sexism is a big problem in healthcare. big problem. huge. also racism & other types of discrimination. women and minorities are statistically likely to receive worse care.
    • yes, female health professionals (like all women) are also capable of perpetuating sexism.
  • if you are perceived female, requesting that female professionals handle your care is a useful way to lower the odds that medical gender bias will get in the way of your treatment.
  • when i can, i choose providers based on recommendations. in the past i’ve chosen male and female practitioners based on research. but when information isn’t available, i play it safe and request to be seen by a woman.

and here’s an article on how statistically female doctors have better patient outcomes & lower mortality rates (no matter the gender of the patient). the patients with the highest mortality rates? women treated by male doctors.

one reason for this: female practitioners tend to spend more time listening to their patients, and are less likely to dismiss patient concerns. the final takeaway here: find a doctor who listens.

Me: this is a genuinely good post. Helpful info.

My brain: 😏😏😏

Me: b don’t do it

My idiot brain:

Why would not follow the theme of the original post?
